Economy
The primary employer in Juneau, Alaska is federal, state and municipal government, including fisheries, fish and wildlife services, national parks and the coast guard. Tourism is the largest private employer, seeing up to one million visitors during the summer months. Fishing is an important industry, processing millions of fish. Real estate, road construction and the “Alaskan Brewing Co.” are viable industries in Alaska's capital. Mining also plays a role in the economy with Kenneccott Greens Creek Mine, one of the biggest silver mines in North America, producing gold, silver, lead and zinc.
