Getting to Juneau

America's most beautiful state capital is worth the trip. Juneau is home to more than 30,000 year-round residents, and is located on the Gastineau Channel with Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts providing a stunning backdrop. Driving distance is 569 miles from Anchorage, and 211 miles from Whitehorse, Yukon.

Travel to Juneau involves sea or air. Although there is no road directly into Juneau, you can travel in and out of Juneau by road via the ferry, which is part of the Alaska Marine Highway System. As a large part of the "highway system", The Alaska Marine Highway offers passenger and vehicle connections to Juneau, and is the perfect way to visit Alaskan communities.  The most southern terminal is in Bellingham, WA, with stops in Prince Rupert and communities all up the coastline.  For the Juneau Central Reservations Office, call (907) 465-3941, or toll free at 1-800-642-0066, or visit the on-line reservation

And of course, Juneau is a famous destination for cruise ships, with the travel industry being a major contributor to Juneau's economy.  A variety of cruise lines make the popular stop into Juneau's cruise ship terminal.
